I thought I had a fuel problem so I cleaned the carbs changed both fuel filters isolated boats fuel system with a portable fuel tank with fresh fuel. Still motor is running rough. I thought ignition system. I first started pulling plug wires w/motor running. There was no change in running when I pulled the top and middle wire but when I pulled the bottom wire motor shuts off right away. Is this normal??? If not what would cause this to happen? Any input is welcome.
Thanks
Adam
you did what we call a “drop cylinder test”
you found that the top 2 cylinders arent running at low rpms
now you have to determine which of the 3 pieces of the puzzle are missing
- air (compression)
- fuel
- spark
BTW, I will bet its fuel.
those are the second most difficult carbs, to get clean.
also, after you clean them, they must be synchronized with a set of vacuum gagues
I’m now at www.teamcharlestonmarine.com
chris is that something that your shop does (clean carbs)? if so what would be a rough est. to clean an sync carbs? if not what course of action would you recomend?
Thanks
Adam
