Ok so I after listening to the crickets for awhile from some lost promises I decided to burn up some dead dinosaurs and at least check out the secret squirrel crap! Plugged in the corners of 51 and quickly realized 51 is listed as a fishing stake area…(whatever that means) With the borders already listed on my garmin… Blasted through some crapicus near shore waves last Saturday on the way to the outcrop. Since it was roughly on my way I decided to check out 51. 45 minutes of bottom scanning and 20 minutes of pulling up octopus after octopus we decided to go feed some Barracuda from the outcrop to the 226. 4 Barracuda later we decided to hit the usual suspects in 140 feet on known spots. Loaded the boat with the usual suspects, home we went and decided to see what 53 was about. Scanning for maybe 30 minutes we encountered the same thing as 51 but replace octopi(?) with lizard fish and something else we wouldn’t eat. I did notice both spots are very near productive bottom spots I already have dove or bottom fished on. If all is true the spots I have may have been only as good as they have been due to the proximity to the “super secret dnr spots”.
Had a great day and enjoyed testing the reg in cruddy conditions on the way in. Phenomenal boat and great day with a semi green crew. Best of luck to those who know more than me about the areas but I found fish faster and filled the boxes to legal limits on my know spots rather than the others.
