I need to put a pump in my 79’ Mckee Santee and where I need to put it I don’t have a drill that will work in there, has anyone ever installed a bilge pump with 5200 adhesive? Thank-you

Yes, it will work fine. No need to drill holes in that deck, just asking for trouble later.

my proline 20ft we used 5200 fast cure… idk if it helped but gave me peice of mind… i was able to sand the fiberglass so it wasnt smooth gives it a little more to bite on. iirc we even used it to install the automatic float.
Maybe go with 4200 just in case you break the basket that the pump sits in if you have to replace it.

I was going to ask, what happens when it dies, how do you remove it?
“Apathy is the Glove in Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”.
It’s no real problem to remove it. Get a piece of thin single strand leader wire about 3’ long, wrap a short piece of dowel or broomstick on each end for handles, just like a garotte. Slip the wire between the fitting and the deck and use a sawing motion with the garotte. It will cut it right off.

Yeah, and if that doesn’t work, there is always C-4 !!! LOL That 5200 is some good stuff!!

5200 is a serious adhesive, good stuff for sure! There have been times when I considered C4 too, or maybe some det cord ![]()
I learned the garotte trick about 30 years ago from an old salty boat builder. I had a job of replacing a fighting chair in a 35 Bertram. Seemed easy enough, unbolt the old chair, seal the holes, bolt on the new Release. That dang new chair cost more than my house! So I took out the bolts and the chair didn’t budge, did everything I could think of to break it loose. No go. So I brought over the travel lift and wrapped a chain around the chair and tensioned it up. No go. More tension, no go, more tension, lifted that 35’ twin diesel right off the jack stands, nothing holding it up but 5200! ![]()
Old salt comes up and said boy, let me show you something. He made up a garotte and cut it right off in about 2 minutes. Knowledge is power:smiley:
