Where can I buy it at?
HD,Lowes,BW, maybe Ace! Comes in small tubes or the size you put in caulking guns!
Thanks.
Double D.
DD; Try West Marine. I told you BW but they are long gone! Duh:face_with_head_bandage:

I swear by the stuff. I use it on all of my installations. I sealed all of the rivets on the bottom of an old jon boat, yrs. ago, and it didn’t leak for over 3 years. It even cures underwater.

I’ve done that too. I’ve found that if you can put some heat to the area, via heat gun or propane torch, it softens the 5200. Don’t heat the 5200 itself, but the area close to it. I’m talking about removing it from something like a mounting pad on a t-top or poling platform.

im removing a through hull transducer next week thats held in with 5200. i am guessing its not good to get the gelcoat excessively hot?
reel wicked & happy bob, thank you.
I am removing it from alum poling platform. or at least trying. i’ll put some heat on the aluminum
Try putting some tension on it with a hoist or something as you cut it with the wire.

thanks bud. i’ll try that. I spent 30 minutes on it Saturday and ended up with aggravation and a beer buzz
Don’t buy it at West Marine. Wally World has it for half of WM’s price. Also try Ace Hardware.

barracuda; Why are you removing the thru-hull! Is it in the way of something else you want to put there? If it just doesn’t work, cut the wires and leave it! Put the new one off to one side of it.
easy,
i have the airmar B164 in there right now and i am moving up to a chirp unit. will need to put in 2x B175 transducers. they are the same size as the B164, so pop one out and the new one in. then only need to drill one hole in the other sponson.
also looked at the videos for the marine formula that reelwicked suggested. ordered a can to try it out, worked impressively on youtube.
yeah i just bought it at west marine and although i love the store the 30 dollar tube of marine caulk shocked me at the counter

Helpful hint: Once opened, plug the tip with a appropriate sized screw or cap, and keep the tube in the refrigerator. It won’t harden up in the tip and it’ll last a lot longer. Of course, that’s assuming you have a beer fridge in your garage or shop. Wifey probably wouldn’t appreciate it if you kept it next to the milk jug. Mine barely tolerates me keeping beer in the house fridge. And look out if she finds a container of night crawlers in there.
