Headed out to find a nice ocean, and only one rain cloud in sight but it was sitting right on top of the spot where I was wanting to start. Headed south towards Edisto Banks and cut back in on the backside of the rain. Very scattered weeds in 200-250 ft. with nothing of note forming up and no action for the first few hours. Found one decent patch maybe 50 yards long, got a double header off of it and got the stink off the boat. Headed out to 300 ft. and found a pallet with dolphin around it, but they weren’t interested in our spread. Picked two Tripletail off the pallet, a first for me and my buddy, and then the dolphin decided they were hungry after all. Pitched baits to them and got 4 gaffers and two slingers. I had the daymaker hooked up and fought him for 10 minutes when flipper showed up. The fish took one look at flipper, turned and headed east, peeling line until he spit the hook. Biggest dolphin was around 20-22 lbs.
Congrats. We were talking last time we went that we seem to see far fewer of those pallets than we used to.

We only saw the one pallet, but there was a 55 gal drum and some other small stuff in the same area. Only the pallet was holding fish, didn’t see or mark anything around the others.
We were out there too but couldn’t dodge the rain… got hammered for about 30 minutes then broke into the clear and it was a nice ocean. We only got 4 small mahi even though we saw a lot of thick weeds that normally would hold a few fish… we pitched 'em with no luck. Got tired of clearing weeds and headed back in. Not a great day, but on the water still…
