6/10 - Bottom Fishin

Left Remley’s around 6am with Overdraft 225, his boys, and big fish Randy. Seemed like half of Charleston were there too. Headed out the rocks and was met with a truly awesome washing machine ocean for the first 5 or so miles… truly fun (not [:0]). Eased out and attempted to jig some bait from the cans. Got a handful, but not nearly what we would have liked for our grouper mission. Stopped at the C-bouy and chatted with some fellas (Mayhem and Madness maybe?). Anyways hope you guys had a good day.

Lots of boats running deep on what turned out to be a farm pond type ocean, but we pulled up and started going to work on the bottom fish. The few live baits we had paid off and turned into some nice groupers. I got rocked by something big. Knew right away he was gonna try to punk me so palmed the spool and went beast mode to get it out of the rocks. Turned out to be a personal best gag for me! Ben and Randy and the boys were doing work on some trigs, jumbo beeliners, and other fun stuff. Moved and tried a new spot which earned us another nice scamp for the box. Ben was hammering the trigs on a flat fall jig too. Constant action and we were wore out by lunchtime. Had a nice visit from a jumbo hammerhead right before we left which nixed my plan to cool off in the ocean by the dive ladder [:0].

Great day on the ocean and back to the house in Hanahan by 3. Good times!

Nice work

Well done, sir(s). Nice haul of groceries right there.

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

Hey Northchucky, that was us and you guys faired way better than we did on the grouper. We struck out on Gags and Scamps. I ended up in that spot where ALL the endangered ARS in the Atlantic are located. Still had a great day on a slick ocean. I’ll post a little later. You guys did good, congrats.
