Waited of the storm to pass and proceed out. Around 30 mile off we pulled up as there was a CAT (Boat) upside down floating with its bow sticking out of the water. Called it into the coast guard, gave the GPS number to them. They said it was from an rescue early in the week, anybody know what happend? Anyway proceed out to the outcrop, befor we got there two sails came along side free jumping in 90 ft, we stopped and deployed got one and released. Picked up and ran out just short of the outcrop and pickup on dolfin. On Tuesday I talked to a fellow at a gas station while fueling up, he had just came in from fishing (blue scout), he told me about a weed line in 270 ft, thank you very much. So we ran out and in 370 ft we found it. Two boats on it but left or followed it south. We followed it offshore and caught fish all day. End the day with 20 dolfin, some really nices ones, lost several. Water layed down flat and we came back in at 40. Water temp out there was 80, fishing from 370 ft to 550 ft.

pon pon with the position of this floating boat on VHF 16?
Was this an outboard-powered cat? How long did it appear to be in length? Never been across a newer boat like that out there. Have seen some half-floating sailboats and things like that with lots of algae and growth on them. Pretty scary thinking about hitting one in the dark.

that would scare the crap out of me, seeing a boat overturned w/o knowing any of the details. Just the thoughts of the Palm tree on the other post and now a floating boat… Really makes running out in the dark more scary.

Last week just SE of the SW Banks we found an old channel marker (#5) drifting north at 3-4 miles per hour. Lots of fish on it but it would not be fun finding it in the dark.

I always hold my breath when we break the rocks, at least until day break. Couple years ago (2, I think) there was a telephone pole inbetween the rocks. Once the word got out on the radio there was a traffic jam goin out that mornin. We never saw it but it was scary knowing it was there waiting to ruin someone’s day

a local fisherman heard them on the radio last week, and proceeded on with a rescue after talking with the CG. i heard bits and pieces of the story, im sure some of you know him. he rescued the folks on the boat without even a thanks from them.

The haul was bow up floating, looked to be a 30 ft cat with outboards on it, she was around number 68 on your GPS chart, about 10 to 15 miles inside the outcrop heading straight out. I will post numbers this afternoon once I get home. Inshoreboy do you know what happened?. I was talking to a friend who fishes the Pro King circuit and he was saying that has happened to quite a few CATS this year all over the place. Saw alot of stuff out their floating, logs, tress, planks,boats, I’m just glad it was daylight when we came on the boat.
