Pretty awesome day to fish today for all that got there. I took some novice offshore buddies of mine out that had been dying to go. They fished as well as many people that have been doing it for a while. We stayed in 80ft all day and caught a nice mess of triggers, black sea bass (12-17in), red porgys, b-liners, grunts and way too many sharpnose pain in the ass sharks. We had several nice fish that were lost when rocked up and the brand new 80lb mono leaders on the Penn Bajas with 80lb braid couldn’t be blamed for that. Prolly several nice gags. I was able to land the one real good bite i got for the day and was my personal best Red Snapper on R&R.

That fish gave me a fresh reminder of why i love bottom fishing. There is no fight like a stud ARS. So much fun. We had a 15lbish dolphin come up to the boat twice and only stayed for 30 seconds before leaving so i didn’t get a chance to show him my speargun and he wouldn’t take any bait.
My buddy Phil was really wanting to shoot the speargun so i brought some extra gear on the boat and we hoped in at the 60 on the way back. He got 2 spades and a pretty decent AJ for his first time ever shooting any type of gun in the water. He was very excited to say the least

Pretty crazy that when we pulled the anchor up we had another seemingly new anchor attached to mine with some broken chain. I see alot of anchors diving and stuff but the odds are dropping our anchor right on another one and having it snag so perfectly had me baffled. If u recognize this anchor and u lost it, i will hook u up so shoot me a pm if this anchor is yours.
