6-13 Outcrop to 380

OK, should have gone Sat., but family stuff prevented that. Headed out Sunday hopeing the calm water would hold from Sat., NOT! Bumpy ride out, and got our butts handed to us on the ride home, but we made it home. The radio was buzzing all day with boats in trouble from Jacksonville northward, hope everyone made it back safe. The day was not a total loss though, as we pulled back at the outcrop, we were greated by a 300 - 350 lb. Blue flying through the air after a school of flyingfish & peanut dolphin. He jumped twice off the bow and never saw him again. Lines out and dolphin bite is on, put 3 big ones in the box, relaesed the peanuts, several short strikes, then a good size sail comes in the spread, but was not hungry I guess. All fish were caught in 240’ 81 deg. water. Did not see another boat all day. Still better than working in the yard!

We went to cammanche and Y-73 with another boat. Around noon I saw two sportfishers heading in. Not sure why but it wasn’t a good feeling. 15 minutes later the wind picked up so we headed in. Our buddy boat wanted to stay and bottom fish but we did not. We got in at 2:15 PM. They left only 20 minutes after us and they got back at 5 PM. We were in a slightly bigger boat but it sounds like we left at the right time.

What kind of boat were you all on? We were offshore of the outcrop and only saw one boat all day…a sporty but could see not the name of the boat because it was in the distance. Looked like a beige or maybe tan hull.

24’ Regulator with a dark blue hull

Sorry Cane, I was asking Capt Reed. Think I might have seen them at the outcrop yesterday.

Hey Shevlin, We were on a Cobia 270 WA, white over blue. I did see a sporty way off on the way in.

might have been us, we were trying to find some clean water. It was dark nasty water until we got to around 800ft.
