Had plans for a big day offshore trolling and spearfishing but it didnt workout so me and a buddy made plans to start inshore and head out to 4ki after the tide turned. Well we never made it past the Stono Inlet. Fished south of the Stono and found a great spot at low tide. Creek was full of bait and we even spooked quite a few fish throwing so we knew they were in the area.
Shrimp and small finger mullet were everywere on the creek flats and the small creek mouths were full of large mullet.
Started easing along looking for fish on the banks and came across a dock that barely had water around it and oyster beds on both sides behind it. Right away we spotted fish pushing and feeding so we crept up and started catching fish right away. Fished carolina rigs with light weight infront then moved around to the back in between oyster beds and dock. Caught fish behind the boat on floats over the beds and in front with carolina rigs against the dock for 2+ hours. Boated a dozen or more with 3 being over slot and losing another 4 or so that were very large.
We decided it was hard justifying leaving to head to 4ki when we had fish visibly feeding around us.
Hooked a few on small finger mullet but the majority were caught on live shrimp.
Well written report! Congrats!
Nice! If my plan b’s turned out like that…
I’m a high class redneck.
