Ran my buddies Sea Hunt again for the second day of the tourney. Thing tried to sink at the dock, but that is another story. Worked out to the Bubble Rock and the flat ocean turned confused with the current and upwelling. Always neat to see that. Picked up a wahoo after missing 2 fish on the high speed troll. Worked back in and found one of many nice rips with big splashes going on. Within minutes, we had a white terrorizing the spread. Proceeded to go at least 0 for 3 on marlin in the next 5 minutes. I am still kicking myself in the ass for that… no dolphin today. Just could not find a weed line.
Had a lot of fun fishing the 50/50. Thanks to those who put it on. The food was great. Great entertainemnt and a lot of really nice people I met who were involved.
We ended up getting 3rd place in the wahoo category with a cute little 18 lb fish. Almost embarassed, but hey, I’ll take it.
My sister won 2nd place in Lady angler for BOTH dolphin and wahoo. Those were some nice awards and she was stoked.
Still kicking myself in the ass for us losing the tourney winner dolphin the day before. Live and learn.

Question for you on the whites Cracker. Were you pulling lures or meat when they came up? Just curious if lures may have contributed to the misses.
Just little old blue and white sail lures with new hooks on 2 of them set up with a bird chain…One came and hit a bigger bart about 20 feet back in the wash and then jumped the chain…had another hit the way back behind a big bird…had 5 or 6 baits get hit… not exactly sure how many fish there were, just had three events with billfish in the spread… we were running smaller Ilander, squitches, and Moldcrafts

we did the same…took me a few minutes to explain to a guy on the boat yesterday what just happened to that flat lake we were in.
we didnt get anything up into the spread, gave it 1 1/2hours but did find a sail in 700’.
