Ole trusty…

Left Wappoo Cut at 430ish with the fleet to find a not so great ride out to the stream. The plan was to troll/bottomfish near the ledge, but once we hit 90’ the waters seem to turn angry and we collectivly made a call to bottomfish for a little while until the seas turned. The water wasn’t bad, I just need about eight more feet of boat to reach across to the next wave when the period is around five seconds.
My next boat will have…lol.
We shared our spot with some other boats…these guys were really roughing it though. First time I’ve ever see a sporty back down on amberjack.

With an allstar crew, we put a slapdown on the local endangered BSBs. Tried hard with the jigs to find Mr. Grouper, but he never showed up to the party. Caught our fair share of AJs of course, vermillion, porgies, grunts…all the usual suspects and a nice surprise of a 21" flounder on a butterfly jig. That was a first for me seeing that. It was tough getting through the sea bass to get to the other species.

Trolled for an hour and a half and picked up two mahi, one peanut, one decent gaffer. Yes in 90’. Bottomfished the rest of the day and finished out the box with a few more fish including a pretty little bonita that was the perfect size for me to turn into a dozen blue crabs for dinner tonight! ![]()
