Someone lied to me and said it was going to be 3 ft every 10 seconds, but it didn’t matter because we were going. It was probably lucky that we left at 3:30 from the dock because it took us a solid 3 hours to get out in what I would call 3ft every 5 seconds. We put lines out at 7 and hooked three dolphin right away. All three came on the Shotgun. We kept one slinger only because it was my buddy’s first Dolphin. We went through 3 packs of ballyhoo due to short strikes. I thought about putting out lures but instead we decided to pack it up and go home. We fished at the scarp around 150-300 ft. No weeds at all. We did fish a couple of rips with some strikes. I think we were just missing the bigger fish. Ended the day with 4 dolphin. All probably in the 10-15 lb range.
I guess I officially need to learn how the call of the grouper.
