6/18 Folly River

Headed north from the launch in the yak at low tide. Fished an oyster bed with a live shrimp 12 inches below a popping cork. Third cast or so, hooked into a nice 19" red, my first ever. So excited that I didn’t snap any pics before it swam free. Several more hits but no other hook ups any my dozen shrimp were gone in no time. No action on any artificials.
Storm blew in and I paddled under a dock, breaking my forward rod. Lesson learned.

Congrats on your first red, Skillet!

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

congratulations!

I had to teach myself to fish when I was young and when I started catching reds instead of crabs, stingrays, and other trash fish it changed my life. Literally.
