Stocky and I took the Fishin’ Mission with Springtide,Allan Klawer, and Allan’s 15yr old son,Micheal out looking for dolphin. We ran 61NM SSE to find a rip in 1600ft that we saw on the sst.Trolled up and down it in 2-3ft seas and 82deg water from 0745 til 1030 with NOTHING.Then we have a very large fish rip the port spreader bar teaser and 135# Cajun red right off the boat.We could feel it rock to port.Trolled in to .5NM o/s of 226 and Micheal caught a 52# bull. Then we found slingers stacked under a 4x4 in a weedline for some 10# tackle fun.Trolled some more and caught 4 more gaffers including another big 37# bull for Micheal. That young man had a lifetime dolphin trip on his FIRST trolling trip ever and he handled it like a pro.We caught most on a 1deg break with weeds and trash. The long riggers with Islander “Flashers” were hot.Ran in in 2ft seas.Ended up keeping 15 dolphin 6-52#.
Capt. Eddie - Great trip and big fun watching Micheal’s arms turn to mush while fighting the two big Dolphin of the day. Kinda funny and painful all at the same time.
