Working the 2PM-2AM shift, so of course I had to fish for a couple hours this morning. Woke up early and hit MI. Started out trolling for Flounder and picked up one nice keeper. After 45 minutes my boy was saying, “lets go outside the jetties dad.” He loves Flounder, just doesn’t have the patience, so I pulled up the trolling motor and moved on. Spent the next 2 hours watching him reel in baby sharks, spots, and whiting. He sure loves to reel them in.

Great morning on the water and took home enough to eat.

3 mile can keep them active . I’ve caught some very nice flounder out there as well .

nice catch! what rigs and technique do you use when trolling for flounder? also what is good rigs and technique for 3 mile?
i need all the help and luck i can get!

I like the flounder rig with 1 1/4 oz weight with the float and mud minnow. I’ve recently been told that set up works well with double hooks, mud minnow on bottom and white gulp on top hook. I’m going to pick up two and try it next time out. Put the lines out and troll as slow as possible.

At the three mile I use basic double bottom rig with 2 oz weight. Everything eats shrimp so you can’t go wrong with that out there.

Are you referring to the traditional flounder rig under the float? Are you just dragging the weight and bait on the bottom behind the cork or do you try to keep them just off bottom?

Thanks!
