Never found the so called 6 hour weather window or 8 second wave periods. It was 3-4 at 1-2 seconds all day with an occasional bigger set. Had too much $ invested in calcuttas to turn around but it was slow going at 16 kts in the 24’ Scout. Passed 5 boats or so coming back to the harbor on the way out. Went straight out and hit 90’ all bruised up and decided to drop lines. Three slinger dolphins between 90 and 120’ and a few small king strikes and cutoffs with one large King taking to the air. Finally got to 140’ and picked up an 18 lb dodo and started the troll back through extreme chop when down line buzzed out for 10 mins and then shook off. Probably the $ hoo fish. Oh well, we got out there and fished where mother nature would allow and piggy backed behind a sporty for 10 miles through some storms coming back into harbor. Good crew with no *****ing or sea-sickers. Add some salt to the soul on that trip.
Which part of the ocean did you end up in? Never heard you on the radio.

Ahh, 16knts in the 242scout. I remember those days. Sell the boat and get a bigger one then you can enjoy the $600 in fuel alone bill each trip! Every boat has its advantages and disadvantages. I don’t miss the 16knts much but I sure do miss the 60 gallon fuel burns.
Glad you caught some fish.

Dog, I trust the crew and you were well lubricated to take those bumps easy. Glad you had no spot for me and inshore was not much better. Hopefully wadmalaw bill provided some entertainment as he always does!
I had high hopes for the dog hizzouse. Glad you had a safe day though. Hope to get out there soon myself, would love to have the dog house crew join.

WD, we took a 120-150 heading straight out and trolled that as well for most of the day. I called ya’ll numerous times but I guess the SW banks was pushing 25 miles from us.
Definatley time for a bigger boat but it battled along. Got to love the curtains on a day like that. We gave it our best in a small boat and snotty conditions – we’ll get it done next year and win some $.
