On the water at 7 heading for Frey Key but didn’t get there as we saw that fish were at the same point we fished Wednesday morning. Got a 7 pounder at 35 feet but everything else caught was right off the bottom. At 9 we loss the cloud cover and the fish. Wound up with 9 shorts (they should all be long enough in September)and 6 keepers, the biggest being 7 complimented with a 6 1/2 and 6. They could have been bigger, but we still had fun, except for when the one circled the other four lines half a dozen times.
It’s nice seeing all the reports on here again. The reporting went dry for a couple years. I guess the improved fishing might be the reason. Good to see the the striper fishery on the lake making a comeback.
We’d like to think that’s what the forum is for, to report what one is seeing on the lake. Even though we’re old and haven’t been at this striper fishing for all that long, we think we do alright, but what do we know. So we’re going to share the “how” and “what” of our experiences, and hopefully, others and more will do the same, and maybe, we will get a little better and have more fun. Not interested in finding out somebody’s secret spot, but how to identify good areas to fish and good techniques to use is a different story.
It’s also nice to look back on previous years reports to see what you caught, where/when you caught it. I kept log in my blackberry for two years and it died. Lost all of it.
