6/24 Deli and Triple Ledge

Left the dock at 3:30 and went out to the Deli and could not find a weed line or rip so kept going out to 600 feet and even though we saw no good signs of life decided to try it and see. After a couple hours the box was still empty. Picked up and moved south about 10 miles to the triple ledge and within 10 minutes hooked a nice 26# Wahoo on the planer. Found a well organized weedline and spent the rest of the day trolling along it. Landed 2 small Dolphin and 6 cudas and lost a couple before we could see them but guessing they were cudas. We also got a nice show from a school of porpoises. Seas were a lumpy 2-3 which made for a 24 MPH ride out and a 30 MPH ride in. All in all a great day on the water but could have done with fewer cudas and more dolphin.

Thanks - first Wahoo ever for me and crew (as well as first fish of the day) so we were very excited. Hit our smallest reel (Penn Senator 112H) so hard I thought it was going to get spooled before we could even tighten the drag. Lots of fun! On an earlier trip we tried the Wahoo high speed trolling technique with no luck. The first cuda was gently unhooked and released intact at the expense of the wire leader - the rest were not so lucky;)
