A moderately rough ride out of the Stono at 5:30. Found scattered weeds Around 145 Ft, trolling was frustrating, could not keep the weeds off of the bait. We found several scattered weed lines as we worked out to 200 Ft, and finally hooked up, a shark. We noticed some schoolies under the boat while we were releasing the shark and spent the rest of the day with spinning rods, drifting. Much more fun than trolling through the weeds. We ended up with 5 dolphin, only 2 were over 25 lbs. 1 small cuda and 2 sharks. Wet ride coming home, but still a fun day.

What were you using on the spinning rods? Thanks for the report.

They liked a pink/white island lure with a ballyhoo at first, We just threw the same lures we were trolling with, then we switched to some frozen squid. It seemed to work best to let the bait sit still, then when a few came to the bait, we would pull it away, we got a few that way. If we let the bait sink the cuda and shark would bite. Keeping the bait close and on the surface worked best.

Thanks man, I will reach out prior to my next trip. I would like to get to know some people on the radio when we are offshore.
Pretty sure this weekend will be spent on dry land.

Gotta love when they hang under the weeds like that. I throw a popper on my spinning rod and get some acrobatic hookups with nicer fish. Nice report, keep em comin
