6/28 Tailing Reds w/ Pics

Finally got a chance to hit the water w/ Dave from TimeOut. Super nice guy. My yak is broke, so he let me fish one of the new Tarpon 140s. Stability in this boat was awesome, and it paddled much better than my old Tarpon that just loved to eat water.

Anyways, hit the flat about 2 hrs before high, in what was supposed to be a 5.8 tide. The water was filling in strange, and the places I was expecting to see fish were way too dry, even as the night went on. We explored some other places though, and found the water level perfect.

I catch sight of my first, and only tail of the night, he was pushing real strong, and I couldn’t believe how big the tail was - like a broom wavin back and forth. Put the gulp crab out perfect, and he was on. This fish put on one hell of a fight, doggin down real hard, and making five or six really strong runs in deeper water. Awesome fish.

At this spot about a month ago, I caught my biggest tailing fish ever in SC, that one was about 30". This guy was 31" and change. Awesome fish.

That was the only fish I saw in what’s usually a really solid area.

Great night on the water though!

Finally got a dig, here are the pics…

That there is a nice chunk of red fish! Congrats! I am still trying to land my first red. A few REALLY good hook-ups and fights but none in the boat. I think I have them dialed in at bushy though. the last 3 times I have gone out I have had great hook ups so I have modified my gear to stronger stuff and should have one in the yak soon  Congrats again on a great fish!

“Carpe Diem” does not mean “Fish of the Day”…

Dave,

I sent them to tosportski@yahoo.com yesterday.

You didn’t get them?
