What a beautiful morning in Charleston!
Had a very active topwater bite this morning, but had a really hard time keeping them hooked after the initial take. Had several come off after a few seconds of fight. I read recently that the stock hooks on a Spook Jr suck and I agree. Will change mine out before my next trip.
Hooked IDK how many, but landed 5 (16, 16, 17.5, 17.5, 19) Seriously my hooked to landed ratio was awful. Maybe 4:1. The worst part was I lost what I think was a 5+ lb trout by the way it felt and pulled drag. Sickening. O well…
Had a mess more trout on Trout Trick and a couple rat reds (17, 18) and flatties (10 & 14).
Scouted a new bank and saw a red in shallow. Scrambled to get the fly rod out and by the time I did he was gone. But a few min later I see a big wake. A nice red comes swimming right by. I cast only about 15 ft and 6 ft in front of him. Dragged it into his path and gave a small strip. Got his attention. Another strip, another strip and he takes it! Gave me a Whaler sleigh ride for about 20 min Woo Hoo!

Taped out at 29" my PB on the buggy whip. Gave him a dart tag and away he went to get some lucky person a T shirt
A lot of bait has moved in during the last week and the bite has been very aggressive for me for tr
