Took the kid out to a local river not far from the house today. He caught one stingray on bottom with shrimp. After the tide got pretty low we had fun catching some mullet in the cast net. He wanted to play in the water, so i started casting a gulp jerk shad while he got all muddy. Second cast i hooked into a big red. Fought him for about 5-7 mins before he managed to throw the hook. After that i was ready for another. Made son get back in the boat while we cruised down the bank. I hooked and landed 2 nice reds in just a few minutes. First was 26" and the second was 27" with multiple spots. After another swim break we tried bottom again with only a gar for our efforts.
Man that is some beautiful colors on those fish! I love to see how keeping the kids entertained can be as simple as getting a lil mud between the ears brings out the best in them. If nothing wants to bite a ray on the other end is always fun!

You catch them both on the jerk shad, or on the ghost shrimp on your rod there?
