Suppose DNR wont know the species for sure, till they talk to “SELLS” you know the fishing authority! Nice catch and looks like some fine eats.

Yeah, after looking at the pictures, I believe that Capt Brett McBride would have called this a Pargo… However, I do know where the state record mangrove snapper lives. Saw him while diving a couple of years ago…

I met with a DNR biologist today at haddrells point. She confirmed that the fish is a Cubera and she also got some samples and recorded information on the fish.

As far as the Sells comment, I wouldnt say he is the “authority” on fish, but there are not very many people in this world with his experience and knowledge on fish/fishing related topics.

He’s the only one that wasn’t a total tool on that show. Why he would be affiliated with that show, …we’ll I guess I do know. I’d probably do it too.
