6-6 Murray Report

Went with coolbreeze for night fishin trip-forgot that richards tourney was saturday. Congrats to striperking (dj) for 2nd! Anyway, trolled till dark at the towers and moved into jakes in front of the water treatment plant with live bait on bottom and freelines. Picked away at them for awhile. Moved about 11 pm back to the tower area and picked away at them for awhile again. Missed/had a moose though about 1 in the morning ! Can’t blame coolbreeze for that one though. All fish were 18-21 inches other than a couple of midgets. Downrods with live bait seem to be better for me right now than freelines.

3rd place david barnett 2 fish 10lbs 13oz.
big fish larry edwards 7 lbs.

Congrats on second DJ. I can’t believe that big fish is 7 lbs. That was pretty much average two years ago. I don’t think I have caught a 7 lb fish since March

Congratulations DJ! How much booty you walk away with? I called Mark when I saw your post and he said he won $1400.

I’ve fished that tournament on his boat 2 years in a row some years back and we didn’t do squat. This is the 2nd year he’s won since then. No wonder he never invites me any more.

2nd paid $600. I remember a few years back we had 45+ lbs and finished 6th. we caught a bunch of fish saturday just under 21 inches, I believe the keeper ratio is gonna get much better in the coming months.

That is a pretty sad results for Lake Murry. Anybody had any discussion with DNR biologist about how bad it is at Murry??

Good Luck

Heck, it might be time to break out the fly rod and have some fun with those shorties. Maybe I can find them schooling and throw a topwater floater or something. Sounds like fun to me. Otherwise chasing a keeper might eat up some money in gas and bait.

If you have a sinking line, you can kill them near the lighthouse in Crystal Lake. Big school of 18-20" fish. Move around until you find and try them.
