Left out of JIYC at 345 and had lines in shy of the 380 hole just before 7. Trolled for only 30 mins before we had a double knock down with sails…it was a task clearing 7 lines but they put on a great show and we were able to get them both to the boat and get some good pics. We trolled for the rest of the morning and found a secret weedline with only 50 other boats on it but the fish were pretty shy. We decided to head back to the ledge and troll over some structure we had found on our way out and as soon as we passed over it we had four lines going off with no one left to drive ended up being all AJ’s (9 for the day) but a small group of dolphin followed them in and we pitched some squid to them boating only 2 biggest was a 20lb (internet weight) bull. We then headed to some of Phin’s top secret #'s and did pretty well with the Pinks, caught 3 Scamp, a trigger and a bunch of b liners, BSB and one State Record Toad fish. My buddy Matt also free gaffed an annoying cuda which was pretty cool. A big thank you to the Robalo with dual honda’s for running over our way back and following us around bottom fishing. Here are some pics…

Ah yes. We had to pull off a strong strawberry grouper bite. We’d caught 3 or 4 just as this guy in a Robalo cuddy comes right up to our stern. I mean really… I have never gotten angry at anyone offshore- even for running over lines trolling or cornholing numbers. This guy literally was coming up so close that I was scanning the radio to hear what the guy needed. He continued coming right on up 100ft off my stern and started baiting up lines! I put the ball on the anchor and pulled the anchor all around the whole spot as the guy was trying to get where I was!
Listen folks, don’t run up on somebody while they’re on anchor and start fishing like that. I had to keep a few folks on the boat from throwing bank sinkers yesterday…
Enough about that.
We had a great day on the Pioneer, and I truly appreciate it Pete. The sails were awesome, and I look forward to doing it again! Bottom fishing was a little slow believe it or not. I’m glad we could get on a few though!!!
So… I’m guessing you didn’t go again this morning I’m sure 4am came way to quick

Yeah. That boat cancelled because of a slow day for most people yesterday. Been too hot I guess. The early bite is definately where it’s at, so I’m glad we got out early yesterday!

i’ve met that guy with the robalo. nice guy to talk to. not from around here. did he have kids with him?
Single honda on a 21-24’ robalo cuddy? It appeared to be only the gentleman and his wife. There could have been kids below. Please inform him that his actions were highly uncouth. [:0] I believe the gentleman that was trolling on top of our way back line for about 10 minutes and drawing closer the whole time was in a similar model robalo but with twin hondas. That did not concern me as much as the guy idling closer and closer to me while I was anchored, which caused me to think he was in need of help. I’m telling you though… he got 100ft away and I saw him start baiting lines.
