6/9 topwater and big pond bass

Fished the AM with Ralph Phillips and Opti-Jr
Had a great topwater bite.

Jr caught his first topwater fish a few weeks ago in a SSWA tourney and was excited. Well he now has 2 through 7. I gave him the “hot” bone Spook Jr and I used a bone badonkadonk.

He was working the plug like a seasoned pro and seriously I could not advise him to do anything better. Didn’t need to either; he landed a 19.3" and followed it up with a 19". Color me proud

Chicks dig him and sea trout fear him!

I got a nice one myself. My 2nd best trout this year. All spawned out and released to make more babies and spread those survivor genes

Also, Fri night I fished the golf course ponds with BOSN. We always use fly rods and poppers and catch bream and the occasional bass. Nothing too big but fun anyway. Well that night I brought my trout rod and a trout trick. First cast lost a nice bass. Second cast pulled this gollywhopper out! I had no idea those ponds held bass that size. Caught one more about 2/3 that size. I’ll be bringing the trout trick from now on, needless to say

Nice trout! I would rather catch one like that than 10 bass that size.

Awesome, your killin it! How big is that bass, hard to tell by the picture. Big bass on top ate awesome. Try a bomber badonkadonk and tiny torpedo by heddon. Both are badd slayers! I’ve caught anything from a 5lb bass to a .3 bass and a titty bream on my 4" badonkAdonk

yakman I didn’t measure it but would estimate 18" - 20" (guessing) The pic does not do it justice. I will try a topwater plug you know I love that!!!

Went back to the pond yesterday evening before the storm rolled in and caught one on TT one on a spook jr! Both small fish but it was cool catching one on topwater. Had several smack it in the air but not hook up. Thanks for the tip yakman!!

Wow! I gave the great and legendary optiker a tip! Also I love the mullet colored badonksdonk because my ponds have shad, but my litlle tiny torpedos(@ HPT) I like a bream color. What color spook did you have?

Used the same one I had tied on for trout - bone
