Like Kemp and Neal said I have fished will all of these guys and fished on this boat before. Also the swivel didnt seperate. the double line broke after 2.5+ hours of fighting the fish with the drag to the bolt. The camera died shortly after the first time they got the leader. They got much better looks at the fish later on. As far as the weight goes who cares it was a heck of a fish cought in feb.
Im just going by what was qouted, I agree the fish is a nice blue. I dont care if he weighed 650 or not. But the poster does seem to contradict himself. No matter…NICE FISH!! Maybe you guys will get some YFT’s next time.

I guess that will tend to happen when the poster didnt even talk to the people who cought the fish.
I did talk to the guys who caught it. They were so excited, they were contradicting themselves. As this boat will be booking charters through my business, I can only put down what they tell me. I had to get all the information from them to report it to the DNR.

120 fork length fish would probably be about half the boats length in size with the bill and rest of the tail. There is no way that fish is over 100, look at the third picture on the leader, you cant tell me that fish is 400 let alone 6. I’m not knocking the guys who caught it, it’s an amazing catch and sure they were jacked up, but a 650 in the spread looks like a truck coming at you. Hope they are able to catch some more this year. Anyone getting out this weekend?
I know Tim personally- he’s approximately 12 feet tall and weighs in around 800 lbs…that b*tch is a grander I don’t care what you armchair mathematicians say with your numbers and crap
After fighting that fish for 2.5 hours standing. I bet that guy felt like it weighed a thousand pounds. First one this year off SC, and om a boat with outboards! Bet those guys will be in the Governor’s Cup!
splitbil, not nocking you, but how many 650 pounders have you caught. ive seen some good fish and this thing is pretty big… but thats a great way to get some charters. put those pictures on your website!!! nice work team!
splitbill has caught fish over 800 and many over 400 so i think he knows what they look like. He killed the largest blue marlin to date in the edisto tournament as captain. I would estimate the fish 300
Dizast, I hate to correct you, but I have the largest Blue Marlin to date in the the Edisto Governor’s Cup as Captain. It was 586#, certified. At that time, it was the fifth largest in the the entire Governor’s Cup series to date.

I hate to correct you UGLY, but the largest is 638# caught on the
RISKY BUSINESS in 1998, I was running the boat for the Cannons at the time!
I stand corrected. I forgot about that one. It was before my billfishing time. It just upset me when someone said that a 300 pound Marlin is the biggest one caught off Edisto in a tournament.

Why did you killd those beautiful fish just to dry out on the dock…
If you can’t fix it with a hammer, you’ve got an electrical problem.
