7/1 Big Mangroves and a full box.

Got a late start but we made up for it. Started bottom fishing in 90’ and caught some good size Bliners and BSB. Pushed out a little further to 120’ where schoolsout was doing good but we couldn’t catch anything but Red snapper.

Every drop we were venting and releasing Red snapper 2 and 3 at a time on cut bait with dropper rigs. These Red Snapper regulations are RIDICULOUS! What the hell will it take for common sense to prevail here? Every dive i see hundreds of them no matter the location. /rant

Did a couple dives after we got tired of releasing red snapper. Water was dark with only 25-30’ of vis and a pretty strong thermocline. Mangrove snapper look a lot like red snapper at depth when they get big but having hundreds of red snapper side by side with them it makes ID a lot easier. Ended the day with a full cooler of gags, scamps, mangrove snapper, and hogs.

Fun day on the water for sure Rob! Next time we are running to an area where we can get back on the spadefish because Christin was a taste for spearfishing now.

SO many red snapper out there too. We couldn’t effectively bottom fish due to them. Let’s go find somewhere to dive without all the red snapper.

Captain Bruce here. Rob you are ‘dead on’ regarding the over abundance of BIG Red Snapper. We dove in 100’ Saturday and they were everywhere. We ended up with a cooler full of Spinys and a nice Gag Grouper. We also had the same vis and thermocline.
