7-19 Cobia

First bottom fishing trip of the year. Great day all around with nice ocean and lots of fish. Fished between 80-110 feet with squid and big menhaden. 24 triggers with a dozen or so BSBs and vermillion and a few pinks and 5 nice ARS. Day was made when 4 cobia followed up a nice snapper. Hooked all four, boated three with one broken hook. 30-35# on the scale. Just beat the storm back in.

Nice!

I need to fish wherever you guys were. Nice haul.

Good job fellas!! It may be an illusion, but that water looks super calm out there!

Yes it was very nice all day. Picked up on the way in and just beat the storm back to Edisto.

Lots of good eating there.
More cobia in the area this year.

Very nice catch, did you get the Cobia on Menhaden?

Glad I wasn’t on fish cleaning duty! I’ll wash the boat.

Very nice catching :sunglasses:

yes, we had big live menhaden and a couple of casting rods ready to go for just such and opportunity. Actually chummed with livies to keep them around the boat. Thought I would never finish cleaning those triggers. If they were not so tasty I would never keep one bc they are no fun to clean. Thankfully had a big crew for us so plenty of help.

Will gladly take you up on that Sells. Drive to Summerville would be time well spent if I can do it half as quickly.
