First post, so - here goes.
Typically do most of my fishing on the Sullivans island side of the IOP connector. Fishing partner and I (strictly fishing partner, in this day and age you use the word partner and people get all kinds of ideas)
Recently, over the course of that last two months we have moved north of our normal spots and have been fishing past the IOP Marina, up to Bulls bay. Which is where i fished as a kid up until a few years ago, but we work during the week and the amount of boats on the water on the weekend that have no idea what they are doing out there now can discourage a longer ride.
Anyway, a small recap on today -
3 Reds over slot (one being impressively large for the depth of water we were fishing)(cut bait)
6 Trout, one of which being 21" (doubled up live shrimp on popping cork)
2 Black drum on dead finger mullet filleted down the spine
Couple small sharks just as a reminder that we were catching too much of the species we wanted.
We had two reel screamers that we never got to put eyes on but they sure did take us for a ride for a while. Definitely red fish the way it was acting, wish we could have gotten it to the boat but all the 20lb braid with 40lb leader in the world couldn’t get them to the boat. Both popped the line (one from pure strength, one wrapped me around oysters and finally got my line to snap)
Anyway, back to work tomorrow, hectic 60 hours ahead until it comes back to Saturday morning then peace is restored.
Good luck to all fishing through the week, we’ll see you guys next weekend, don’t catch em’ all
