7-5

Pushed out at 3AM. Planned to head to Edisto. Mother nature said different. Turned on the XM weather and was greeted by a Marine Warning and a bright red blob heading toward Edisto. So change plans and were off to the Ledge.

Lines in about 7. Not to long and we have two slingers in the boat. Ran back and forth on Ledge for while than decided to push deeper. Nothing.

Came back in to about 140 feet and picked up two more slingers, a king and to many shorts bites to count.

On the ride in we managed between 20 and 25 Knots. We had enough water come over the side that I only needed a fresh water rinse to clean the boat. 15 miles from shore the XM Weather showed the Harbor looking pretty nasty, but most of it passed by the time we got home.

Not a great day, but not too bad either.
]In to Deep, nice sharing info with ya. Hope you all had an uneventful ride in.

One Key West 268 rigged with the best of everything.

Bob,

No problem. And yes, amazing that you would cancel a trip:smiley:

I fished with a good crew yesterday. Brav302, Reel Time Out and Go Fish. Brav also brought a buddy of his. He had a loooong day of chumming and holding the bean bag down:stuck_out_tongue:

I think the next couple of trips will be back to bottom bumping. I have not been over to Edisto yet but I want to give a try.

Tight lines.

I still say that was a peanut butter sandwich that went by the boat from the front.[:0]All said and done its all good:wink:.And still think brad should have done the motor duty[:0]YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I MEAN.As always great day on the water .

Bonita Bob,

We made it in just fine. Thanks for the info sharing as well. I was glad to finally see another CC out there. After you headed in, we ended up picking at the Mahis, Kings and cudas in about 120 ft. We did not have much success out deep either.

Probably the most excitment we had all day (other than a sailfish taking my lure and bird teaser) was me inflating a PFD right in the middle of our spread. I guess you cant be to careful out there in rough seas. Its just a miracle I had it on when I lost my grip and and got dumped out. Thanks to Mike Benson for the quick thinking on dropping the planer rod back and managing the lines so I did not take a hook in the face or elsewhere.

We had an awesome day this past Thursday. We trolled on seas that were slick as glass and ended up with a box full of fish. Saturday spanked me and brought me back down to reality…

Glad your alrigth .I wore my pfd auto inflat yesterday to did not want to reinact any deadliest catch moments from tv.Glad you all got some fish .Was not good day for weak stomachs glad I dont have that problem. Was that a everglades or clearwater boat we all could not seem to agree.

I was actually driving a 2550 Bluewater. They are pretty new to this area I guess. Its a real common brand name in Florida. My partner and I bought it earlier this year from Cape Romaine Marine. I was really proud of how well it handled in those rough seas yeaterday. Yea, I will be wearing my PFD in rough seas from now on as well. It was hard enough keeping my head up in the 4 - 6 ftrs with a pfd on. I dont want to think about how hard it would have been dodging lines and fighting waves without it. A good lesson should be learned from my experience by all…
