Seems way to small to me.
It’s a 1994 31 TE with 2 2005 Verado 275’s.
Found a boat online, made a deal on a price that included a brand new trailer.
I got an email late this afternoon saying they were going to put it on a brand new venture 7225. http://www.venturetrailers.com/aluminum.html
I emailed the dealer back but haven’t received a response yet.
Thoughts?
If I recall correctly, the 31 Fountain is only 5800 # without the motors. So, the load capacity should be about right. However, there are other factors.
I would not take anyone’s word on this off the web, including mine. Ask Alden what to do. If you want, though, I can get you the model number of the trailers we had in the past for this boat. That’s a guaranteed safe bet.

He replied shortly after I posted the question.
He said he’s going to check the stats tomorrow morning.
If the boat w/o motors is 5800#'s, and the motors weigh 635 each (dry), it’s already at 7000#'s.
200 gals of fuel weigh roughly 1300#‘s and that’s not counting batteries/gear/etc.
8500#‘s plus a 10% safety factor suggest at least a 9300# trailer according to the Venture website.
The other thing that scares me is that the trailer says it’s rated for a 25-26’ boat.
That’s about 5 feet shorter than this fountain.
If it was a 29’ trailer, no big deal, but 5 ft seems like a lot.
Thanks for the offer on the model #'s but that shouldn’t be necessary.
I think they’ll make good on the deal, and if not, there are plenty of other boats out there.
BTW, do you remember if you had dual or triple axles?
Your boat will fit on that trailer just fine. The transom will hang over, the winch stand will be jam up against the hitch, the tires and axles will be overloaded, and your tongue weight will suck. But it’ll fit. You’ll even be able to get it out of the parking lot, but I wouldn’t bet on how far down the road. Remember, you have to add the weight of the trailer to determine hoof weight (probably 1200-1500# additional). Sounds like another dealer ‘package’ with short corners …

Happy boatin’ y’all!!
I 'm prety sure the load capacity of the trailers we had was 10,000 lbs, but weight isn’t the only factor. Reelly Old did a take-off on that fact. And the details can be even more important with a fast boat, like a Fountain. I didn’t really bother to look at the trailer specs you posted or the link because I was hoping to steer you away from shopping for trailers and more toward just letting Alden advise you, as he knows what you need and always got us a good deal with the right stuff. You want to get the right trailer for that boat (one that fits and supports the hull properly, as the hulls are sensitive and even blueprinted), not just one with the right length and capacity.
We had dual-axle trailers for the 31’s, so I doubt I would waste the money on the third axle unless I was going with a larger boat.
One thing I want to make sure to tell you is that you always want to make sure that the transom of that boat is completel
Venture makes only one trailer listed on their site that is correct for that 31 fountain the VATB10625. It is a triple axle. Find a manufacturer that sells a higher capacity dual axle trailer.
what ever trailer manf you select, spend the extra money to get the right options such as all stainless fittings, front bunks, torsion axles, kodiak brakes, goodyear tires. It will cost you an extra thousand now, but will save you way more than that in the long run.
Thanks DDD.
I appreciate the help.
I was finally able to get the right trailer for the job. Got the 8025.
I called around to several Fountain dealers, and they all confirmed that the trailer was adequate for the job.
Apparantley that 31 Fountain is only 6300 lbs. with the engines.
Add 1400 lbs for fuel and “stuff” and it still comes up under the 8025 capacity.
As far as the length goes, the way the fountain is made, it easily fits on the 26’ trailer.
Thanks again.
