I got out in the river about 1530 and hooked two in the first 45 minutes or so, then the wind and chop picked up. That Puglisi fly swims really well and looks great in the water…!
First Redfish(23")on my 7wt Hydros caught on a Puglisi fly that I tied.
Really nice fish catch/ fly hook-up pictures. The local winter fly catch pictures are great. The fish often have the fly right on the front of the lips. Great picts. Hungry winter fish.
Scottyd turned me on to that everglades special this year. Broke off my first fish that ate it reached in my fly box and came up with the Peanut butter style in “shiner” color (white, silver flash and a bit of red for the gills). They ate that one too. Beauty of those EP flies they land softly on the water.
Yes that fly is the Everglads Special. And yes they land very softly in the water. THe two I caught yesterday are the first fish I’ve caught using the Puglisi flys. I tried to let the first one run so I cud put him on the reel, but it didn’t work out so I lined him in.
I like the Puglisi flies and have used them from tarpon on down to trout. Enrico now has fly tying videos on his website: epflies.com You have to pay a yearly membership fee to watch the videos but it’s not much and I think definitely worth it.

I agree. It’s well worth the $19.95 to watch the step by step instructions… I couldn’t believe how light they are and how well they swim…! The only limits are your imagination…
A tiny, I mean like a size 16, EP minnow will destroy trout, especially big browns and around here small local ponds, the bass and bream can’t stand to let them swim by…
