Apparently, it’s normal to run on plane between the rocks & someone anchored 20-30 yds from the rocks of the north jetty.
I’m fishing the middle of the exposed rocks inside of the north jetty this past Sunday. It’s glassy. I’m enjoying the day tossing some mullet on the bottom with my dog in a 15’ flats boat. Some guy who did not look like a rookie & had 2 passengers on a newer 20 something foot long center console was heading in from offshore direction running next to the rocks of the inside of the north jetty at cruising speed ~25mph definitely not trolling. I’m thinking surely he will give way soon because I’m very close to the rocks & I’m clearly anchored up with lines out. Nope, he runs by on plane between me & the rocks. He was close enough that I could have hit him in the forehead with a short cast. I figure o well, retards are everywhere & it’s not like he spooked all the fish off my flat or something.
By this time, I have been anchored in that same spot for a while without a bite, probably an hour, so I am ready to relocate about 100 yds closer to the mainland. I pull anchor & start idling towards Sullivan’s staying close to the rocks as I see this same boat is now running back toward me at cruise speed still running right next to the rocks directly at me! I’m now thinking wtf, does he not see me? I hold my line to go port to port rather than head toward the channel & confuse him. As they’re passing my confused look the older fella sitting in the front of the boat gives me the hands out shoulder shrug as if he’s either wondering what I’m doing or wondering what his captain is doing, honestly, I’m not sure which at this point. Boat then pulls a gradual turn across the channel toward the submerged rocks of the south jetty on the mainland side & I never saw em again.
I was looking so much at the people on the boat, I didn’t even notice the make/model of the boat. It was a light yellow colored hull.
I had something decent run me into the rocks & snag me up. Otherwise, I spent about
it was definitely a great day for a small boat at the jetties. it looks a lot like my boat in the last picture of your report al, but I was on the north jetty

Yea couldn’t beat it. Only caught a shark, some small reds/bsb, and croaker. Inshore was much better but the jetties are always fun since theres such a variety of fish. I usually fish the north because its less wake and calmer, but I usually do better at the south jetty.

Sounds like this guy was running the edge of the rocks and watching his fish finder looking for areas with fish. No excuse for a lack of respect for other boats.
Never ceased to amaze me…big assed ocean out there and people will zoom past within yards of you. I don’t understand it…my only guess is that they are rubber neckers.

My experience, mostly in the Beaufort area where it is less crowded, is that 95% of the folks on the water are respectful of other boats and will do anything they can to help you. Then, there is that 5%, who have rubber necks, cement heads, and are a pain in the … Thankfully, they are a tiny minority.
