Got up early and was out at the dock at 6:30 and there were tons of finger mullet for the cast net. Hit up a few spots on the South Jetty where I could find some room, but didn’t have any success…moved out to the near shore reef and caught black sea bass after black sea bass. I swear, some of the finger mullet those BSB go after are almost as long as the BSB themselves. After that moved back in and fished the North Jetty with no luck and moved to grillage with no luck.
It was a lot rougher out than the forecast had called for (which is to say that all the sites I looked at were calling for it to be pretty smooth and it wasn’t. “Big” swells once you got out into open ocean, but they were long period swells so it wasn’t so bad.
I had pretty high hopes, but alas, it’s fishing, not catching
