We set out to catch a big King but could only find 4 Snakes at 50 ft the largest weighing 17 pounds. Eric Sellers and Jim McNabe did a fine job of landing this fish, water temp 85.6 on a Pogi with Blue and Pink sea witch. We photo’ed it and had to revive it for some time before releasing it under good power. The size 4 trebble came easy it was the rusted hook lodged in the roof of its mouth complete with a foot of 100 pound test mono that was a challenge (as shown in picture 2) Also landed a large Tuni and had a 8 foot hammer-head follow the bait right up to the boat.
Oh we thought we where in the money for a couple of minutes until it cleared the surface on its firsh jump… Man if it had only been a King…
they’re fun on light stuff- nice
that hook was probably left from one of the billfish grabbing critics.
Gordo, nice job on the sail! I was wondering why I did’nt hear from you after the tourney.Give me a shout.Still up north.
