Trampled out onto the flats this morning for the 7:30 high tide.
Were on the flats waiting before sunrise. Fish were plentiful …after the torrential rain …we saw a ton of fish but it was one of those situations where we did more “chasing and moving” than fishing. Fish were fairly active but the distances we had to move to get to em cost us time. We managed 5 fish in 2 hours. I caught my largest fish to date on the flats … A 37" PIG!! SOB broke my rod…

Now is the time to go get a fly rod…

Got one… just have been reluctant to take it with the way the wind has been this summer. It won’t be too much longer and it’s making the hike
You’ve got them figured out, now it’s time to step up the challenge level and bust out the long rod!

Ha ha, that’s exactly what I was saying to myself while looking through the pix and then saw your reply.
Going with the fly brings a whole new incredibly frustrating/incredibly rewarding element to the game.

But, if you become a good enough caster who can deal with the wind, then you’ll be that much better when conditions are ideal (which seem to be rare anyways).
If you’ve never hit a tailer square on the noggin you’ve never fished in the wind…

“you win some, you lose some…but nothing beats getting some!”
Thats some of the best kind of fishing in the world in my opinion. Nothing better than the super quite hunt, the perfect cast , the turn or hit by the fish, and the fight that insues before your very eyes. The long rod is the way to do it, you can always position yourself with the wind at your back when wading, so dont let the wind discourage you from tossing that thing. Good work on those fish!!
