Had legit shots at a dozen tailers today…lined way too many fish today and had fly hang ups all too often…only landed one about 20 inches. Will be working on some super weedless patterns to help alleviate the hangups.
Good tides for the next several days…get out there and get some.
There is no such thing as a “weedless” fly… they are weed “resistant”… You make your weed guard too beefy and it won’t allow you to hook the fish…

Saw a good video on weed guards, wrap them high on the hook then pull down I will take a few pictures when home to demonstrate.
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Had another good session on the flats…actually two sessions…23rd and again this afternoon…tied up a few EP tiny mullet patterns with 30lb weed guard…landed two yesterday and one today…the fish today was about 28"…fine line between too much weed guard and not enough…and with too much you risk not getting a good hookset.
BlueFly, What fly did you land the 3 fish on ??

Hurricane,
Have been having most success on small EP Baitfish pattern…I tie them using pearl/white…and a 30lb mono weed guard…the flies look like a small mullet you see on the flats.
This fly is great for cruising fish…when they are doing headstands I wait until they tip up to move. Sometimes they are pretty tricky to catch while headstanding…and it is hard to resist throwing a fly at them…
Success for me goes up if I am patient…wait for the fish to look up and move and you should have no problem getting an eat.
Sounds good, I am waiting for some new “EP LIKE” material to come in I found a website in which they make there own material and it is $1.75 per pack, waiting on it to come in to test the quality, have all colors too
