Took the day off to fish Bulls Bay with my brother.
The day started off bad. If anyone has ever driven on Hwy 701 from Conway to Georgetown you know how rough the road is around Big Pee Dee. Crossing the overflow bridges before the river my bait bucket bounced around and got lodged between the seat and the console, lowering the pole. The asphalt won. We heard the noise and could not find a spot to stop in time, next thing we knew the pole goes flying through the air. I hope this will not be too expensive and too hard to replace.
On to the report. The water was muddy every where we went and it seemed like it took forever for the water to get out of the grass. Forecast was West wind 5-8 more like 10-15 maybe 20 across the bay. I wanted to fish around Bull Island but we quickly determined that was not a good idea with the west wind so we made a move back inland.
We fished the falling tide just about all the way down.
Ended up with 6 reds, one came home for supper, all caught on live shrimp on a float rig. We also caught a couple of what we thought were Jack Crevalle. Those are feisty little buggers.
Fun HOT day on the water. Beats being at work, maybe I should have worked. Oh well.
