I got out yesterday for the first time in over a month with the intent on targeting Sheepshead. I was on the water by 6:30 and fished the first 2 1/2 hours of the outgoing tide, but only landed one under sized Sheepshead. I needed to clear out and pick up the Ride 135 to meet and kayak with my wife out of Shem Creek by 12:00. So around 9:00 I headed in, but just couldn’t go in without making a cursory effort to jig for a flounder in one of my standby spots with an ultralight baitcast rig spooled with 10 pound mono. The first drift I got bit, but nothing solid. So I set up to do another drift and this time felt like I was snagged. As I went to “test” the line the reel started screaming. Almost 10 minutes later I was rewarded with this toad of spot tail. Both fish happy to be released to make someone else’s day.
