8.5 lb sheepshead...

my brother caught in the cast net before I could even get back down to the ramp from parking the truck. Not a bad way to start the day. Filled a 2.5 gallon bucket with menhaden with one cast. Went to the creek caught a short flounder in the cast net. Put the trolling motor down and caught a few slot reds on the menhaden. Water moved back in the grass so we pulled out and went to a high water trout spot. I think DNR is pulling our legs…we caught a dozen or two 17-21" trout in a couple hours…all on 4-6" menhaden under a cork. This was last Friday.

I only put the good parts in it. Truth is we spent almost 12 hours on the water that day. The most action was the trout bite for a couple hours. Everything else was slowwwwwww. After the water moved off of our trout spot we backed up into a creek, set up above an oyster rock and proceeded to chum with our plethera of menhaden for a solid hour or two…nothing (worth while) ever came into our slick not even a bonnet head…finger mullet schools, baby blues and some little bait steelers. Just figured ya’ll didn’t want to hear about the 10 hours of fighting for a bite.
