8/6/12 Wando fishing w/ my brother.

Brother was in town for the weekend. Took today off to take him out inshore fishing. Hit up Hadrell’s at 7am for 2 dozen MMs and a dozen shrimp. Got to Remley’s @ 7:15 and at the first spot by 7:45. 10 mins later I hook up with a rat. 5 mins later my brother hooks into his first redfish, another rat. Fished another 10-15 mins without a bite. Threw out a MM under cork and let drift, then threw out a MM on the bottom. As soon as the MM hit bottom…TAP TAP…Hook up with ANOTHER rat, as I am reeling in, my cork goes under. I put the rod between my knees and pick up the rod w/ cork, set the hook and reel in a trout a few inches under keeper size. Once reeled in and unhooked, continue reeling in the rat…My first DOUBLE!!! We continue fishing the same area hooking up with 5 rat reds total and about 3 trout. We start to head back to the landing but told my brother we’re gonna hit this one spot me and the wife caught about 15 trout a few weeks ago. To no surprise we bait up and cast. Cork is in the water not even 2 secs and we both get hits. We finished off the day AND bait at this spot bringing in another 12 trout, small ladyfish and a lizardfish, both of which my brother caught. Mother Nature finally rewarded me with a good number of fish for all my time this past year searching and learning saltfishing!!!

Congrats on the good day on the water. Great catching…even if they were dinks and rats.

Yeah, I was hoping for some bigger ones. Guess the smaller ones ran the bigger ones off…lol I’ve caught 23 inch reds and 17+ inch trout in those spots before.

LMAO at Bonzo! Good job getting fish in the boat.
