8/8 The good and the bad

The bad:
Got out there a little later than I wanted to, heading out from the Virginia Ave. boat launch on the 'ol tin can. Got out and casted the grass line with popping cork for about an hour…nothing doing, water was clear and warm, with a lot of mullet jumping and a few jellies floating around on the top. Switched over to the trout trick for another hour at various spots and still nothing doing, so decided to make the best of it and scout a few high tide flats.

The worse:
As I roll back around the corner heading back to the virginia ave. boat ramp, I see some orange floating barriers blocking off the train tressel…sigh…so I pull up, raise the motor, and proceed to grunt and sweat my way over those %&%*() barriers…with the crew watching me struggle all the while. After 10 minutes, I finally manage to clear the floating barriers and make it back to the ramp…

The GOOD:
Well, this may not affect most of you, but the reason those %&&%*( barriers were up are because Kapstone is removing the fuel line, and next the train tressel from the creek to the Cooper river, meaning there won’t be a height limit anymore to the Virginia Ave boat ramp. Pretty excited at this, as it’s 15 seconds from work, and I’ll be able to launch a bigger boat…now to convince my wife to let me buy something bigger than my 14’ tin can.

I know this means more traffic to my boat ramp, and most likely my fishing spots, but I’d want someone to share this information with me. Hope this helps someone out…

Tight lines everyone!

Hopefully they will put in some sort of usable dock while they’re at it. That place sucks with a fiberglass boat at high tide.

Bellyup, absolutely. Could be a sweet little launch with a little work.

First time I ever ran out of that creek to the harbor was at low tide and come back at high. Had to take the windshield and hand rails off my center console just to get back in. I’m glad to hear they’re gonna change it but I’ve gotten a bigger boat since then so I can’t use that landing anymore
