Went bottom bumping with Miss Fishin’ and it was the first time I have been on a boat where landed ARS outnumbered BSB. Granted, we were not targeting BSB but other tasty bottom dwellers. We had a 6 man limit of b-liners, red porgies, and lots of triggers and white grunts mixed in but also landed 20+ red snapper. Most ARS were 18-24 inches but 5 were in the 10-18 lb. range. Never had a day where we found some bottom where BSB were not a complete nuisance and caught that many ARS and others without the “sea rats” invading.
Of course, all ARS were released, swam away strong, and will be there again for our amazing 2 or 3 weekends next summer.
Thank you for the release. No doubt the fisheries council will take them into account and perhaps open a extra few hours next year.
Sounds great, thanks for the report.
