Anyone have an 8wt outfit they are interested in selling?
I’m sure the Charleston Angler or Haddrell’s have plenty they’d be happy to sell you. I’d recommend going to cast different rods to find out what fits you. You might find a helluva deal on a used rod, but that money saved won’t mean anything if you can’t cast it.

I really appreciate the advice, and I guess I should clarify … please let me know if anyone has an 8 wt reel they want to sell. If you have a rod to sell as well I might also be interested. Fishing frenzy - I completely agree with you. I have casted many rods and know which ones work for me and which ones don’t.
5 Oclock… go to ebay and buy you an Okuma cascade 7/9. It will probably cost you ~$26-28 after shipping. That reel will do anything inshore that you ask it to, and for cheap. Trust me on this, I own two and they won’t die after years of abuse in the salt.
Pillage and plunder with a 9wt and a fist full of clousers.

I wanted one, but was worried about how well it would stand up to abuse. Thanks Jerms.

Thanks guys. That loks like a pretty good option. I really appreciate the help.
I also fish an Okuma Sierra 8/9 which is actually a fresh water reel and I have been using it in the salt for 3 years now and it’s still hnging tough… it also made it through 6 months of Combat Fishing in Iraq and landed two world records for me… I REELY like Okuma reels Take care of them and they’ll last ya…

I used my 8/9 Okuma Integrity to land a 20lb dolphin this weekend. I was amazed at how strong the reel was. It has been well worth the $$$. I have 300 yards of Suffix 20lb line as backing.
