9/1/2010 Edisto Banks + 226 hole

Fished Edisto Banks to 226 Hole. Caught 2 small dolphin. Had a approximately 25 lb cow dolphin on the gaff and halfway over the gunwall when it jumped off the gaff and slipped the leader wire through the split in the hook eye and was gone. What are the odds?Caught and “released” 3 barracudas. We caught the fish in 560 feet with scattered weeds about 2 miles west of 226 hole. We saw no action either at EB or at 226 hole. When I walked in the kitchen my 5 year old asked what we caught - I said mahi and he said “I love Mahi - can I have some for dinner!?”. 10 minutes later he and my 13 month old daughter were eating broiled mahi seasoned with some evoo and seafood magic. My wife and I had caprese salad and mahi for dinner. Does not get any better than that! Despite all the buzz about hurricane earl the ride out and back was comfortable at 30 MPH in 2-4 ft seas. You could definitely see a very long swell out of the north to warn us not to overstay our welcome. All in all a great day on the water with a great crew.

use welded eye hooks. The extra buck for it = 15 minutes fuel for trolling.

Beat a boring day on shore.

Good tip. I never appreciated the difference until now.

they will also stand up to a more substantial tug, potentially saving you heartbreak on a good fish.
