9/1 a.m.

Sat this a.m. for a little while before I had to catch my first appt. Been seeing lots of does in mornings and afternoons, but no decent bucks. I have kept this particular stand corned, but have not sat a morning hunt in it yet. At daybreak, doe came from behind me, and eased towards corn coming out to my right. I am bow hunting, so all of this is within 25 yrds. Another doe comes out in front of me from a marsh bottom and just sits there starring back towards the direction she came. She eases off to right behind a wax myrtle tree and sits tight. She started blowing, but not looking my direction. Good buck came charging out of the woods from the same direction she came from, and, for whatever reason, hits her with his horns on the side of body. All 3 deer run off out of sight.

Fifteen minutes later, yearling with faded spots comes jumping along towards me…she is acting a little strange, then stops to look behind her. Decent size 6 pt appears out of the bottom running after her. She ran towards me again, and stopped 10 steps away from my right side…buck follows with nose to ground and grunting the whole time. He chased her around that corn pile for a good 5 minutes before they both ran off. Seems a little early for the rut to kick off, but maybe this is pre rut?

Good hunt…deer/coons are going through 50lbs of corn every day. Getting expensive.
