9/15 Wando & Cooper River screaming drags

Got the call last night from Malcolm, tide was in our favor, no need to launch before daybreak. Hurried thru supper to ready the gear.

Quick stop @ BiLo for some garlic & butter muscles as Haddrell’s was out of fiddlers. Sheeps were going to have to settle for them.

Ramp traffic @ Remley’s was light. Backing down the ramp, we met a local/national celebrity just finishing up, Mr. Phillips. Glad to meet ya sir, Trout Tricks will always be part of my weaponry when afloat. Awaiting your next product…

Quick run up the Wando to try some bank trolling before the tide finished dropping. Scattered clouds kept the heat tolerable and the light wind kept the mosquitoes at bay. Dragged along the creek, up then down, sighting some mullet and schools of minnows. Only thing missing was some rap music! Oh, and fish.

Next stop was the 526 supports. Light traffic on the water so we sprinkled/batted free a few clusters of clams and creepy crawling critters while the current held us fast. No bites there either.

Run to the coal chute/tipple had to produce. Worked our way up inside and took some batting practice on the exposed clams - I’m thinking of buying a used battery operated chisel tool and making a nice edged/hammer fitting on a length of pipe for it. First spot had a few bait thieves but nothing came of it.

Moved again but still no joy. Last try, outer pilings. Their outer coating of concrete resulted in batting practice having an undesirable ■■■■■■■■■ issue. But I believe we had the rhythm down by now as the bite was on! Shrimp chunking did it. Tossed back the first half dozen but iced down the next 6+ pinfish and some grunting critters. Malcolm even pulled a nice mangrove snappah over the gunwale. Cooler about maxed out, decision was made to try one last location.

Leaving out of the Coal chute area we ran over by the Big Green Ark to pay our respects to the Godfather of Fishing, looking good Paul!

Tide was moving good now, rock piles may just be the right place to drop some baits down. Traffic on

wish we could have had those PINS offshore in 100’ today, maybe next week.

always good to see local celebrities on the water, lookin good Paul!!

Nice write up Dave! No magic chicken?

Great report.

pigfish are suckers for garlic butter… oink oink

maybe there’s a market for mini jackhammers, I like a wonder bar

Good company and a good day.

I may need to start transporting Fiddlers up to you boys…you can hear them running across my backyard…

Try tying one of those Molecats on the line for the Sheeps with the garlic butter muscles…and bring a dip net.
