Headed out early with El Cid 91 to try and get him a trout on top-water and then move on to fishing some grass for reds. Not really sure what was going on, but could not manage one blow up in an area that we’ve been doing pretty well lately. Spent way too much time trying with no luck. Went to flat number one and did not see a single tailer. Worked the area a little while with no luck and went to another flat that I have not fished in about 15 years. The water was already really high so seeing tailers was not our best option. Finally found some fish pushed in almost all the way to the land. El Cid threw a Z-Man StreakZ in new penny and the fish turned and ate it almost immediately. Got a really nice fight and released about a 29" red. We several more, but it was tough due to water depth and the fish were just swimming along. We also had to dodge huge matts of dead marsh grass that had washed up in the area and made accurate casts really tough. We had a great time, only wish that I had gone to that flat first. Trout still have me stymied. We also saw a few sheepshead milling around up in the grass. Fun to watch. Have a little different game plan for tomorrow.
Glad your getting out there, Andy. You’ll find them. Sounds like you’re over thinking a bit! Still sounded like a beautiful day on the wawa to me!

It was a gorgeous day. Thanks again Andy. I owe you lunch. Put the pic up there if you can and if you need somebody to pole for you, give me a call.

Makes me feel a little better. I went to throw the topwater yesterday evening for trout, and never and bite. Maybe the cold snap this weekend will get them going

self employed don’t have time off. you just make it up later. this YOU know.
saw plenty of folks in the grass this morning, and only a few top pops last night. i worked a float and shrimp and managed an 18" trout in murky shallow water near dusk last night- released strong.
